Jon Daniels Collection

A collection of twenty-plus baseball media and/or information guides, including such teams as the Cardinals, Royals, Dodgers, Red Sox, and more.

The Jon Daniels Collection, donated by Jon Daniels (BS’ 68), contains Major League Baseball media guides for every team, dating back to the 1960s. The collection also includes newsletters from the St. Louis Wrestling Club, 1961-1965. 

1997 illustrated media guide for the Dodgers. The media guide boasts five straight rookies of the year with action drawings for Todd Hollandsworth, Mike Piazza, Hideo Nomo, Eric Karros, and Raúl Mondesí.

Daniels is a long-time, active member of the Society for American Baseball Research and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. He attends dozens of baseball games every year, meticulously documenting each one. More of a historian than a collector, he has written extensively about baseball and maintains an enormous library of baseball books, annuals, and periodicals.

This collection reflects the historical significance of sports media guides and newsletters, which contain in-depth data, including team history, player biographies, and advertisements.
