Open Student Positions

The Kranzberg Art & Architecture Library Student position assists library staff with the general operations of the Art & Architecture Library, including circulation tasks at the Service Desk, shelving library materials, and completing other duties as assigned.

Available hours: Mondays 9 to 11 am, Tuesdays & Thursdays 9 to 11:30 am, Wednesdays 9 am to 1 pm.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists with providing general circulation services for library patrons and with answering basic policy and directional questions.
  • Learns the Library of Congress Classification System and shelves books in the proper call number order accurately and efficiently.
  • Assists patrons with basic use of the library catalog and other resources.
  • Assists with scheduling and utilizing library spaces and equipment, including restocking printer paper and other copy room supplies.
  • Assists with processing library materials.
  • Assists with other duties and projects as assigned.

Special Skills

Previous library experience and/or art history/fine art/architecture subject area knowledge is a plus.

The Student Processing Assistant assists with shelf processing, repair, and preservation of general collections libraries’ materials.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists in the physical processing of materials for use in the library collections, such as barcoding, preparing and applying spine labels, donor gift plates, stamps, and security strips.
  • Assists in the production of archival enclosures for general collections materials, such as envelope sleeves, pamphlet housings, and boxes.
  • Assists with low-level book repairs, such as simple page mends and spine/hinge repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
