Fee Amnesty and Extended Due Dates

WashU Libraries are implementing a program of fine forgiveness and extending due dates, so that our users start 2026 with a clean slate.

Patrons can expect that:

  • Outstanding charges on accounts will be forgiven through early 2026.
  • Due dates for checked-out materials owned by WashU Libraries will be extended to January 2026 and beyond.
  • WashU items will automatically renew unless recalled or until renewals are exhausted.

Important exceptions to note:

  • Recalled items, loanable technology, and course reserves may be subject to fines if not returned by January 6.
  • Interlibrary Loan materials will retain the lending library’s due date and may be subject to a replacement fee if overdue by 28 days or more.
  • Materials from the Becker Library and the Law Library are subject to the policies for those libraries.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any immediate questions or concerns.
