From Quarry to Quadrangle: Material Memory on Campus

The From Quarry to Quadrangle exhibition examines the building blocks of the Danforth Campus. By looking closely at the Missouri Red Granite, Indiana Limestone, and St. Louis Brick that surround us, we can better understand our collective history—where we are, how we got here, and what it means to live and learn in this place.

Photo of stonework construction on WashU's Brookings Archway circa 1901 from the University Archives. The first two floors of the building are built and the scaffolding for the arch is present in the photo.

This exhibition was organized by Payton Landes, MFA in Illustration & Visual Culture (MFA-IVC) 2025 Candidate.
