Siyao Cheng

Siyao Cheng supports WashU students, faculty, and library staff with copyright, scholarly publishing, intellectual property, and information policy as they relate to research, teaching, and library services. Specifically, her responsibilities include advising on fair use and permissions, scholarly publishing and publisher agreements, funder public access requirements, open access, rights and access for libraries’ collections and digital content, and Open Educational Resources (OER) and affordable course materials. Through these responsibilities, Siyao seeks to support the responsible sharing, accessibility, and impact of scholarship.

Siyao is completing a PhD in Information Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She holds an MS in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois. She also serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Copyright in Education and Librarianship (JCEL).
