St. Louis Research Data Center Opens at WashU

A new branch of a Federal Statistical Research Data Center (FSRDC) recently opened at Washington University. FSRDC branches are located across the country and provide secure environments to support qualified researchers using restricted-access data. The datasets are maintained by the Census Bureau and are designed to ensure that researchers have access to reliable federal data.

The St. Louis Research Data Center is a partnership between Washington University and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. It is located in Bauer Hall on the Danforth Campus, and will be led by Seth Carnahan, associate professor of strategy and entrepreneurship at the Olin Business School.

Carnahan said, “The data that are available exclusively in these FSRDC branches are the foundation for top-tier, high-impact publications across a broad range of scientific disciplines, ranging from economics to sociology to public health and medicine. We intend for the FSRDC to become an interdisciplinary hub and connecting point for researchers across WashU and the region.”

Members of the WashU community, as well as individuals at other institutions, who are interested in accessing the St. Louis Research Data Center should reach out to Ken Zahringer, the interim administrator, at [email protected].
