Golub & Viva La Causa Screening

Join us for a powerful evening of film exploring art, activism, and social justice. Golub (1988), directed by Gordon Quinn and Jerry Blumenthal, offers an intimate look at painter Leon Golub, whose work confronts war, political oppression, and free speech through stark, often violent imagery. The film follows Golub’s creative process and career alongside the influential presence of his wife, artist and activist Nancy Spero.

Paired with the short documentary Viva La Causa (1974), directed by Teena Webb, the program also highlights the Chicago mural movement, tracing its roots to Mexico and capturing community reflections on identity, culture, and resistance.
