New and Expanded Electronic Resources
WashU Libraries have ended the 2025 academic year by acquiring new electronic resources and expanding existing ones for students, faculty, and scholars across the Danforth campus. Learn more about our newly available and/or expanded databases.
New Databases
Finaeon – Formerly known as Global Financial Data, Finaeon provides economic and financial time-series data covering over 150 countries and several thousand different data series. Access is also available to historical events, recessions, political leaders, and bull and bear markets over the past 1000 years. Users must create a login with a WashU email address.
SimplyAnalytics – Create professional-quality, thematic maps and reports using demographic, business, and marketing data for the United States. In addition to mapping data from government agencies, such as the U.S. Census, SimplyAnalytics includes consumer and brand-level data from private market research firms, including EASI, Experian Simmons, and MRI. It also has D&B’s Points of Interest data, which allows you to map businesses by name or by industry. Users must create an account with a WashU email to save work. Access is limited to 5 users at a time. Please log out when finished.
Access World News Research Collection from Newsbank– Full-text information and perspectives from U.S. and international news sources. The database contains current coverage of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch as well as other major national newspapers. Date coverage varies with individual newspapers.
Applied Science Commons from Coherent Digital – Database includes STEM technical reports, white papers, and case studies that are not traditionally published in academic journals. The Libraries subscribe to the following collections: Applied Environmental Science; Computer Science, Data & AI; and Public Health and Social Care.
Expanded Databases
Oxford Handbooks Online – Three new modules: Music, History, and Literature. The handbooks contain subject-based research guides containing in-depth, high-level articles by scholars in the field. They also include topical introductions and reviews of the key issues and major debates. All handbooks can be found as one entry in the Database Finder. Individual modules are listed in the Additional Info section.
National Index of Periodicals (Shanghai Library) – Added content to three collections of modern China periodicals: Chinese Periodical Full-text Database (1911-1949) – Series 12 and Late Qing Periodical Full-text Database (1833-1911) – Supplements 1 & 2. To search a database, click the database icon and the “Use” button. Access is limited to 8 users at a time. Please log out when finished.
Bloomsbury Visual Arts – Cross-searchable platform supporting an interdisciplinary approach to studies, teaching, and research across architecture, design, gaming, visual arts, and more. Visual arts resources include textbooks, primary material, monographs, and multimedia. Three new collections have been added: Art Markets, Museums and Collecting; Art, Race and Gender; and Bloomsbury Art Markets.
Policy Commons from Coherent Digital – Public policy reports, working papers, policy briefs, data sources, and media from IGOs, NGOs, think tanks, and research centers. The Libraries subscribe to North American Cities Reports, Global Think Tanks, and recently added World Cities & Local Governments.
