Data Services' Research Studio.

Please see the Library Hours page for up-to-date, in-person Research Studio open hours. The Research Studio also offers appointment-based remote access. Review our research guide for more details and to reserve your spot.

The Research Studio in Olin Library (Level A, Room A06) has collaborative workstations where students can access specialized software and work on analysis projects.

This space is designed to facilitate individual or group work, with priority given to students actively working with the applications we support.

AVA Studio

Audiovisual/Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality (AVA) Studio is a creative digital space on Olin Library Level A. It houses AR/VR headsets, a photography setup, and audio recording equipment. The purpose of AVA Studio is to provide an accessible space to interact with digital technology.

First-time users must undergo a brief training at the beginning of the session. All users should reserve AVA Studio 48 hours in advance.

Data and Visualization Exploration (DaVE)

DaVE is a studio space in the Data Services suite on level A of Olin Library.

DaVE is designed for 3D exploration and development. In DaVE, 3D data can be digitally captured via photogrammetry, laser scanning, or structured light scanning. Models for analysis, visualization, or for use in virtual reality (VR)/augmented reality (AR) headsets can be created in DaVE using tools and software such as Artec Spider II, Metashape, Blender, Reality Capture, Unreal Engine, and Unity.

To reserve DaVE, please complete the Data Service’s Appointment Request Form.

Large Format Scanning

Located in Data Services (Olin Library, A07), the scanner is available by appointment only; please use the Data Services Appointment Request Form to schedule appointments.

  • Clear acetate sheet to cover source documents and protect the scanner optics required (provided)
